Control of SMD components

For our customer, the Swedish company MYCRONIC, we implemented a project to improve the detection of damaged SMD components before they are mounted on PCBs. Imperfect detection of incorrect grip of components by the mounting head caused their misplacement on the PCB, which led to a poorly functioning or non-functional board.

Such board then had to undergo special modifications, which meant additional production costs for customers. Also, an excessive number of correct components were assessed as defective. By improving recognition algorithms and deploying artificial intelligence, we were able to reduce the incidence of these problems by more than 200%.
