Strojirenstvi.cz introduces the new AUBO iS cobot series and its manufacturing applications

Our article on the new AUBO iS series of collaborative robots has been published on Strojirenstvi.cz. It introduces six models with payload capacities of up to 35 kg and reaches of up to 2.1 metres, explaining how these specifications translate into practical robot workstation design.

When automating material handling, CNC machine tending or palletising, the limiting factor may be the weight of the workpiece, the size of the workspace or the required cycle time. The AUBO iS series expands the options for applications that demand higher payload capacity, longer reach, faster movement or greater resistance to operating conditions.

Higher payload capacity accommodates tools and accessories

Choosing a robot requires more than checking the weight of the workpiece. The total load also includes the gripper, adapter, sensors and any other components carried by the arm. The centre of gravity and the way the robot moves the workpiece are equally important.

Higher payload capacity can therefore be useful even when handling lighter parts, particularly if the application requires a heavier or multifunctional tool. The article explains how these requirements influence the choice of model.

Longer reach and higher speed benefit specific operations

A longer arm can enable a robot to tend a larger machine, serve several adjacent positions or cover a larger palletising area. During design, it is essential to verify that the robot can reach every position with the required tool orientation and without colliding with surrounding equipment.

The value of higher speed also depends on the application. If movement accounts for a substantial part of the cycle, faster motion can reduce the workstation’s cycle time. If the robot spends most of its time waiting for machining or measurement to finish, improving other parts of the process will matter more.

The complete workstation design makes the difference

The article also explores motion repeatability and operation in more demanding environments. At KINALI, as the official AUBO distributor in the Czech Republic and a robot workstation integrator, we assess these specifications against the requirements of each application. We consider the workpiece, tooling, workstation layout, required cycle time and safety.
